A pleasant chill

Before I deployed, a friend told me that the weather in Iraq is only nice for two days out of the year -- one day in the spring and one day in the fall. Other than that, it is either hot or cold.

After spending the end of winter, all of summer, and now the beginning of winter here in Iraq, though, I think that he is wrong. In the spring, I would say that he's probably right. As the weather is warming up, there is probably one day where it is nice, and after that it is not. But in the autumn, we haven't had a rapid drop in temperature.

Rather, the weather here is pleasantly brisk in the mornings. It gets a little chilly at night, but overall it is pretty nice weather these days. The showers are a little on the cold side -- but that's not exactly unexpected.

In search for a time to take a warm shower, I have decided to be creative with my PT schedule. I do PT right around lunchtime and take a shower around 1215 or 1230. The hot water is usually replenished from the morning showers enough to give me a few minutes of lukewarm goodness. The other advantage of doing PT mid-day is that there aren't many people in the gym at that time. Besides, when everyone else goes to the gym (i.e. after work), I am still working (and wouldn't be interested in fighting the crowds anyway).

In other news, the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel published another article speculating on Brett Favre's future with the team. I hope he keeps playing. I hope that he will still be playing for the Packers into his 40s. We'll see. :)

Be safe, drink water.

Phil,
I hope you got a chance to see the body slam that one of our Steelers dished out to a Browns fan last week. It was all over the local news, but I don't know if it got any national coverage or not. This particular fan ran out onto the field and was headed straight for the Steelers head coach. He didn't quite get there before being picked up and body slammed by one of the Steelers and then restrained until security could wisk him off the field. I honestly don't think I ever enjoyed a game that much. 41-0 Steelers! The Lions are up next....Take care Phil. I'm so glad that you, Becky and kitty will be together again soon!
